Noel Whelan, a former English Premier League star, has urged forward Sheyi Ojo to quit Liverpool and get more playing time at another club.
The former Middlesbrough winger made this statement in an interview with football.london.com.
Ojo, who is presently on loan at Glasgow Rangers, joined Liverpool as a 14-year-old in 2011 for about £2m.
But the 22-year-old has been loaned to Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Reims and Rangers, in search of first team experience.
Whelan said, “When players have been here, there and everywhere out on loan it can be very unsettling. It is disappointing when you cannot break into a first-team but it is probably more unsettling chopping and changing clubs regularly.
“Now he (Ojo) is at that stage of his career and life that he needs to have three good years at a club – make a name for himself.
“There is definite talent there but he needs to be playing regular, competitive football. He needs that fitness and belief back.
“A permanent move? That would be fantastic for him.”
